In 2015, the Annual Golf Outing raised over $22,000 which provided elementary school students in need with 6,300 quality books. Students were able to choose their own books and take them home to build their home libraries.
“Instilling a life-long love of reading helps children succeed in life. Our 3rd Annual Golf Outing is one of our most important appeals during the year. We hope people will give to advance our goal of improving literacy for children in need, while also enjoying a round of golf at a beautiful golf course. Donations of all sizes are welcome,” said Dr. Richard Quest, former Board President and current Executive Director, Duffy Books in Homes USA, Inc. “Thank you to all that participate.”
“Caring for our customers, the environment, and community is ingrained in CaroTrans culture.
Duffy Books in Homes is an important and extremely constructive way to help develop our future citizens. It’s our pleasure to host this fundraiser and help support our local communities with a hand-up,” said Greg Howard, CEO of CaroTrans and current Board President of Duffy Books in Homes USA.
About Duffy Books in Homes USA, Inc.
For children in need who aspire to be successful, Duffy Books in Homes USA is the community literacy ambassador and educational partner that helps inspire a love of reading.
Duffy Books in Homes USA addresses the problem of “booklessness”, by providing elementary school students, who are in need, with quality books of their own choosing to increase literacy skill development and promote a life-long “love of reading”. Strong, mutually responsive partnerships between private business, community organizations and school districts are
facilitated to invest in the future by changing the present. Shared funding provides a “hand-up” not a “hand-out” philosophy for success.
